I think I promised you some wills....this is the last Will and Testament of Joseph Heald who is my ggggg grandfather (spellings and grammar are faithful to the original). Will be in touch again soon.

<<In the name of God Amen I Joseph Heald of Heath Charnock and County of Lancaster Farmer being weak of body but of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding (praised be God for the same) but knowing the uncertainty of this mortal life and being desirous to settle things in good order revoking all former Will or Wills by me heretofore maid do make and ordain this to be my last Will and Testament in maner and form following.

And first of all I commend my life into the Hands of Almighty God that give it and my body to the Earth from whence it was taken as for my burial I desire it may be ------? at the discretion of my Executor herein after mention.

And as for my worldly goods which it hath pleased God to bless me with in this life I give devise and bequaith the same in manner and form following.
It is my Mind and Will that all my just debts and funeral expense and the Probate of this my last Will be paid and discharged by my Executor hereinafter named out of my personal Estate.

Then I give and bequaith unto my Daughter Betty Booth Wife of Thomas Booth of Chorley the sum of Eighty Pounds to be paid in one year after my decease. But should my said daughter Betty hapen to die before the same become payable Then it is my mind and Will that the Children of my said Daughter Betty Booth shall have the aforesaid sum of Eighty Pounds equaly devided amongst them share and share alike.

Then I give devise and bequaith unto my son William Heald of Chorley a Messuage or Dwelling House with the ~ ~ ~ apurtinances a Garden alloted a road to and use of the easements situated at Red Bank within Chorley and now in the teners or occupation of Widow Baxendale or tenants therof Charged and Chargable with the payment of the Sum of Twenty Six Pounds of Lawful Money.

I also order and direct that my said son William Heald shall pay Eight shillings a year being one moiety of Ground Rent to Frank Hall Standish Esq. and I order and disc...? that my said son William Heald shall enter into the posession of the Messuage or Dwelling House after my desease as soon as he shall have paid the aforesaid sum of Twenty Six Pounds.

Then I give devise and bequaith unto my son James Heald of Heath Charnock a Messuage or Dwelling House with the appurtinances a Garden alloted a road to and use of the easements situate at Red Bank within Chorley and now in the tenure or occupation of Thos. Holland and tenants thereof Charged and Chargable with the payment of the sum of Thirty Pounds of Lawful Money. I also order that my said son James Heald shall pay Eight shillings a year being another moiety of Ground Rent to Frank Hall Standish Esq., and I order and direct that my said son James Heald shall
enter into posession of the Messuage or Dwelling House after my desease as soon as he shall have paid the aforesaid sum of Thirty Pounds.

Then I give devise and bequaith unto my son Hugh Heald of Chorley all that my Messuage or Dwelling House with apurtinances thereto belonging with a road to the easement situate at Chorley and now in the tenure or occupation of my said son Hugh Heald. And I order and direct that my said son Hugh Heald shall pay one years rent after my desease and I order and direct that my said son Hugh Heald shall pay the sum of Nineteen Shillings and Six Pence a year to my Executor thereinafter mentioned being one moiety of Ground Rent.

Then I give devise and bequaith unto my son John Heald all these my two Messuages or Dwelling Houses with the appurtinances thereto belonging situate at Chorley and -est? unto the affore mentioned House and now in the posession of Robert Farnworth and James Aspin as tenants therof and I order and direct that my said son John Heald pay the sum of eighteen shillings and eleven pence to my Executor herein after mentioned being another moiety of the Ground rent, but should my said son John Heald die without lawful issue then I order and direct that my two afforesaid Messuages or Dwelling Houses go to and amongst my sons and daughters or their representatives share and share alike as tenants in common and not as joint tenants.

Then I give devise and bequaith unto my son Joseph Heald all those my two other Messuages or Dwelling Houses with the appurtinances thereto belonging situate at Chorley and now in the tenure or occupation of George Brindle and Kerry Bradley as tenants thereof and I order and direct that my said son Joseph Heald shall pay the remainder of Ground Rent due to Miss Leigh. I also give and bequaith unto my son Joseph Heald all the rest residue and remainder of my goods Chattles and my redetes? of what kind or nature soever they may be.

And lastly I nominate constitute and apoint my son Joseph Heald Executor of this my last Will and Testament in Witness wherof I hereunto set my Hand and Seal this Fourteenth Day of May One Thousand Eight Hundred and Twenty Seven.
